Really, I'm NOT Overprotective...

Last week, the bike helmets were a huge hit. They found them out in the garage and insisted on wearing them outside and inside all week long. Our neighbors must think I'm a crazy overprotective mom. I have to say, the extra protection has paid off more than once - saved Halle when she fell off a chair and Kaia when she fell off the swing. But really, they're just making a fashion statement.

What I've been up to...

I've been busy trying to paint the inside of the house. A few weeks ago I finished my bedroom and bathroom. I know you're dying what it looks like, right?

The blue took some getting used to, but I love the brown. It goes with the tiles and the woodwork perfectly!

Last week I painted Kaia's room, but I'm working on a shelf and some other things for her walls, so I'll post pictures when it's all done. All of this has inspired some kind of crafty bug within me. I've been working on a few little things to tap into my creative side. At a MOPS meeting, we made coasters with felt. I worked really hard to make a pair for Mike's office, something I thought he would enjoy. I drew, traced, and cut and I was so happy when the two colored pieces fit together perfectly. Then I took a good long look at the finished product.....

Notice anything wrong here? Not my proudest moment, but funny, that's for sure.

One Happy Girl!

Well garage sale season is officially underway. Yahoo!!! Last night I hit a neighborhood sale and scored some great finds. It was like Christmas morning to Kaia this morning. The girls got several things, but most prized were this tiara (Just yesterday Kaia said, "Mom, I think I need a crown, don't I?") and a ziplock bag of Cars characters. Oh so fun!

Princesses!

Princesses are all the rage at our house lately. Kaia refers to herself as either Princess Kaia or Princess Cinderella. And Halle is Princess Halle or Snow White. I nearly fell off my chair when Halle pointed to a picture of Cinderella and said a mumbled version of "Cinderella". More often than not, the princess dresses are on, sometimes accompanied by jewelry, fancy shoes, and fairy wings. And for some reason it's really fun to push strollers around the house while dressed up. Makes you feel more glamorous I guess. Since we only have two dresses, I've been picking up every frilly, pretty thing I can find at garage sales. Just today a picked up two pink feather boas for $1. Seriously, this is so fun for me, I LOVE having girls!

Wonder Woman!

Here she comes to save the day!!! Halle discovered this costume at a friend's house.

Someone wrapped a blanket around her like a cape. Then she really started dashing around like a superhero!

Children's Museum

On Good Friday, we met the Kelners at the Minnesota Children's Museum in St. Paul. It is such a cool place with so much to do for every age kid. I highly recommend it to anyone with young kids. The best part was hanging out with the Kelner family though. Kaia and Tyler always enjoy playing together. I didn't take a ton of pictures because my battery power was low, but here are a few.

Young love!

This room just has a bunch of water tables with tubes, fountains, boat races, bubbles, etc. Halle could spend the whole day here.

Mike and Kaia having a jam session. This room has a stage with a bluescreen. You press a button and a pop song plays and you can watch yourself on TV screens that make it look like you're in a music video. Super cool.

So stinkin cute! Cute now, but when they're 15 we'll think differently I'm sure.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We enjoyed a nice Easter weekend at home. Mike's parents and his cousin came to visit and Marty, Jess, and Alex came over too. The girls had a great time playing and eating lots of candy. I tried to get some pictures of them in their Easter dresses, but all I could get were some action shots. Again, too much sugar.

My aunts sent the girls a few Easter gifts they've been having fun with. I laughed so hard at Kaia "jumping rope". She just waves the rope in the air while jumping as fast as she can. I suppose to her, that's what it looks like when other people do it.

Back in Business...

I'm back and I've made some promises to renew my commitment to the blog. I will do my best to keep up. So here we go again...

By the way, I said good-bye to my 20s this weekend. WHAT!? I'm 30! How did that happen!? This is going to take some getting used to. But really, when it's all said and done, I've accomplished my 30-bucket-list: I have a college degree, I'm married, I own a home, I have two little girls, and I'm very happy. So I will count my blessings and suck it up. But I may "accidentally" tell people I'm 28 once in a while!

Mike made me a cake - a poop cake to be exact. On his 30th birthday, I ordered a cake from a bakery. I requested an Over the Hill theme thinking I would get black flowers or something along those lines, however, I got three brown mounds that were supposed to be hills. Put together, they looked like a giant turd. So, from then on, every 30th birthday we celebrate deserves a poop cake.

Mike worked hard to make my birthday very special. In addition to a poop cake he also got me an electric floor polisher (not romantic, but definitely appreciated!) and a trip to the Virgin Islands! We still have to set dates and make plans for the trip, but I'm hoping it's soon! Thanks to everyone for the birthday cards and wishes!
