We're Home!

We moved into the new house as planned on Valentines Day. The move went smoothly. The house is beautiful. I love it! The unpacking, however, I don't love so much. I finally got around to taking some pictures to post. Keep in mind we're in the middle of the unpacking process, so it's far from picture perfect.

We got our new dining table today. Until now, we ate at Kaia's kiddie table.

Call me a nerd, but this is one of my favorite features, a garbage and recycling drawer in the kitchen island.

The playroom (future dining room), it's so nice to have space dedicated to toys and playtime.

View as you walk into the front door.

View of the backyard out the patio door. The piles of dirt will be replaced with sod come spring.

Family room/Kitchen before the delivery of the adult table. I love the openness of this area. I can be in the kitchen cooking or doing dishes and still part of the action in the family room.

Laundry room. It's on the second level, which is great, no more hauling stuff up and down stairs!

Kaia's room.

Halle's room.

Master bedroom. Sure beats the tiny room we used to sleep in.

And another view of the master bedroom. The double doors feel so fancy pants!

So we've got some work to do. Lots of decorating to do. But it feels like home already. Mike and I both agree that everytime we pull into the driveway we think, I can't believe we live here. We don't deserve this. We are so blessed. The first time I left to run errands with the kids. Kaia kept asking to go back to "Daddy's house". I guess she likes it too.

So Sweet!

These two are totally going to be BFFs...

Ready to Move...

We had our pre-settlement walk through of our house yesterday. It looks beautiful!! There are only a few touch ups that need to be made before move in, but the house is perfect. I want to move in now! Our closing is 9:00am Friday, then we'll be moving over the weekend. I forgot my camera, so you'll have to wait until then for pictures....Back to packing.

Stickers!

Kaia loves stickers. She recently discovered a package of stickers she had gotten for Christmas. We had a few conversations revolving around the fact that stickers DO NOT go on the table, they only go on paper or people. I guess paper had gotten boring, because she is now obsessed with putting them on people, faces to be exact. Even Halle gets stickers. Goofy kid.
Notice the shirt Halle is wearing - Kaia wore it during our Christmas in Minneapolis when she was 15 months old. Halle is 6 months. The sleeves are a little long, but it fits perfectly otherwise.

Polka Dots

Kaia got these cool dot painters from my aunt for Christmas. She and Alex had a great time with them last week. At one point I asked if she was done and she looked up at me and very authoritatively replied, "I still workin." The paint is scented so by the time she was done, Kaia had paint all over her face from getting too many good whiffs. And yes, we paint without shirts on, it's just easier that way.

Kaia and Dora

The other day I caught Kaia and Dora just sitting next to each other on the stairs. Aren't they cute?

Halle's First Tooth!

Halle woke up with a teeny tiny tip of a tooth poking through her gums. Yesterday was just a little hard on her. I could tell the tooth was bothering her, because she was a little fussy and she did not nap well. But she's back to her old smiley self today. She's also getting better at sitting up on her own. What a big girl!

Doesn't she look like a crazy baby taking an angry chomp out of that bear?

Superbowl Sunday

Yeah, the Packers where nowhere close to a Superbowl appearance this year, but we are still die hard fans. These pictures were actually taken back in December, but this seemed like a good time to share them. You can almost hear Kaia's thought process throughout.

Oh yeah, I'm a cheesehead. But what else can I do with this thing?

Looks like a potty chair...hmmm....not very comfortable...

Ooo...Halle...but wait that's not quite right...

How's that Halle...OK...

Just right!

We went to Marty and Jess's for the Superbowl. Marty grilled brats and it made me miss summer. We bought a washer and dryer this weekend. What has my life come to, to make that exciting!? Mike and I shopped all Saturday morning and went to every store that sells appliances in the area. We even took a local retailer up on their price matching policy, saving about three hundred dollars. We finally decided on an LG front loading set. We went all out and got the steam versions, but really, would you expect anything less from us? I'll let you know in a few months if it was worth it. We did stay boring and stick with white. To me, it's not worth a few hundred dollars to get some funky color that will eventually be the equivalent to the avocado green of the seventies.
Two weeks from now, I will be relaxing on my own couch in my own house and getting ready to go to sleep in my own bed...exciting!
