Garin's Wedding

This weekend we went to my cousin Garin's wedding. We had a lot of fun visiting with family. As most of you know, when Mike is having a good time, the air guitar makes an appearance. When he's having a really good time the air sax makes an appearance. Well, what do you know, Mike demonstrated his fabulous air instrument skills on Saturday. As Tressa always says, Mike could very well win the national air band competition. Today, Bud sent us this link with a note about Mike setting trends. Check it out. Kenny G, here we come!

Punk Rocker Kaia

Moms beware! This is what happens when you leave your child in Heather's care...a pink mohawk. Did she play a little Guitar Hero too? It gave me flashbacks to the days when Kaia had a natural mohawk. Very cute! Heather, did you notice the pen marks on her scalp. She was playing with a pen this morning and wrote on her head...I didn't know you could do that!

Stairs 3...Loos Family 0...

Well the back stairs got us again! First I fell on them and injured my knee, then Kaia falls walking down them and I dislocate her elbow, and this morning Kaia fell head over heels down all three steps and scraped her head on the sidewalk! Poor kid. I'm so glad we're moving....

You guessed it, kids, we signed a purchase agreement this morning! I cannot believe we sold the house so fast. It's only been on the market for a week! We close October 1st. That's only three weeks away. WOW!! I better get packing!!!!

Mulch Anyone?

This is an update on our curb appeal project. Last Friday the cement truck came to our house and poured our sidewalks. Kaia really enjoyed watching that. Now they're all dry and looking beautiful! Now today a dump truck came and dropped a monster load of mulch on our driveway. Kaia thought that was cool as well. Mike and some friends will be using the mulch to do some major landscaping tonight. Think we have enough??? Thank goodness I thought to move my van out of the garage before the dumping. Just in case you're wondering, we decided to go with mulch instead of rock simply because, when calculating the square footage, we (Mike) would have had to spread 11 tons of rock, that's a lot of heavy wheelbarrows!

First Day of School

The girls had their first day of ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) yesterday. This year we're taking a separating class which means we all hang out together for the first half of class doing different activities. Then the parents leave for a little adult conversation and the kids stay and play. Kaia separated very well. She was a little nervous and stuck close to the teacher, but she never cried. It seems she had a good time. She painted a cute little apple tree (she's holding it in the picture) which she ripped apart on the way home. I guess it's fun to create AND destroy your own projects. Halle is too little to separate, so she stayed with me, and slept in her seat the entire time! Someday she'll appreciate all ECFE has to offer.

I keep thinking that in a few years, I'll be taking these same pictures as they get on the bus for the first time...with their little lunchboxes and their backpacks...wow!

For Sale

Well folks, it's official, our house is for sale. We have a sign and everything. If you're really interested, click here for the online listing. There should be a virtual tour option up soon. The pictures make it look pretty great! Know anyone looking to buy a nice starter house in beautiful Minnesota City?

To make the house more attractive to a buyer, we decided to do a little bit about the curb appeal. We hired a company to come out and put in some sidewalks. Here they are as a work in progress. In the next week or so, Mike will put in some landscaping. Seriously, why didn't we do all this work 5 years ago when we could have enjoyed it?

Twin Cities Visit

This weekend we went up to the Twin Cities to visit our friends the Hemmilas. The kids had a great time playing together.

On Monday we went to the Minnesota State Fair. Kaia had her first taste of real fried cheese curds. They were a little warm, so she wasn't a real fan. She did love the bucket o chocolate chip cookies. (Should have taken a picture of that) Delish!
The animal barns were pretty cool too!

Check-up Time

The girls had their check ups today. Kaia for 2 years and Halle for one month. Here's their stats:

Kaia: 24lbs 13.5oz (25th percentile), 31.75 in tall (5-10th percentile)
Halle: 10lbs 6oz (75th percentile), 22.25 in tall (75th percentile)

I think it's funny that Kaia was always in the lower percentiles and Halle seems to be consistently in the 75th percentile. So different! Both girls are healthy and developing normally. I'm so proud of them!
